We are fortunate in South Africa to be blessed with stunning weather, a diverse environment and first-world amenities, so top notch entertainment is not hard to come by. Here’s a brief look at the top 10 forms of entertainment for the men in our lives…and the progressive ladies too!
Golf –
South Africa has a brilliant array of top class golf courses studded around the country. Whether your preference is for a links course where the strong sea breezes determine the flight of the ball, or a parklands course set in the bush of the Kruger National Park, where a hazard can be a crocodile instead of a bunker, you’re in luck – we have it all.
Racing F1 speedsters –
If the languid lines and raw speed of formula one racing cars turn you on, then head for Kyalami or Zwartkops race track in Johannesburg, or Killarney in Cape Town and put foot. Fantastic Racing actually hires out race cars, offering a heart-thumping, adrenaline-pumping chance of a life time!
Air shows –
Show me a man who doesn’t love to tinker with big boy’s toys and dream of roaring upwards at mach speed.
Big five safari –
There is nothing better than a sojourn in the bush where the timeless quality of life is a reminder that we should take time out and smell the roses..em…the elephant dung perhaps?
Hot air ballooning –
Is there a better way of watching the sun rise over the Magaliesberg than from a bird’s eye view with a flute of champers (or perhaps a beer) in hand?
LAN Games –
While most men won’t care to admit it, they still love to play games with the boys, computers hooked up, gunning each other down in team-based games like the popular Call of Duty 4 or similar games of combat. Others prefer flying solo on their PS3.
Watching sport –
For some men, this one would probably be right at the top. Live is best, but TV or on a pub’s big screen is good enough. My daddy used to say: “If I can’t watch, bury me.”
Movies –
There is no shortage of excellent films out there, so whatever your genre, head for the big screen.
Eating out –
Steak, egg and chips…that’s the way to a man’s heart. Don’t despair though, South Africa has an enormous range of culinary alternatives from Thai to traditional & Japanese to junk!

Only the fearless.
